A common interest that runs through many populations is to learn more about how new and developing technology can improve lives. Making engineering research happen is often a complicated task involving many professional parties to its action. Amazing things are already happening in the many diverse areas of applied engineering, so let’s talk about new technology and funding for more!
Many researchers are finding ways for technology to improve our lives. For example, electrical and mechanical engineering finds answers in robotics research. Oftentimes the general public may think of robots as something remote and not a reality for everyday living, or that robotics development is too far off into the future to have much utility. Some people may even think of very real technology developments as being forms of science fiction entertainment, not realizing how real-time technology research is moving along every day.
In reality, significant advancements causing life-affecting improvements have been going on for all of our history. Advancing engineering technology is widely used in manufacturing, construction, and healthcare. One area of this technology is in giving amputees a new grip on life as their minds can control machines (yes it is true; for more information just search for “amputee robotics” or “bionic robotics”). Additional exciting news and applications that I might know about are classified until after my clients’ science fiction manuscripts are published. 😉
All of this new technology excitement starts with research, which brings us to the money. As you may know, the National Science Foundation (NSF) offers grant opportunities that can support engineering and technology projects. Funding opportunities can also be found through other sources with some Internet searching.
